LBBS SPONSORED PROJECTS 

"Bluebirds on the Bayou" Bluebird Project, Lecompte, LA - Emily Winner, Gladys Ford and the Junior Garden Club of Lecompte provide opportunities for local residents to erect nestboxes, receive management, monitoring and reporting instructions.  A nestbox located at Emily's church where children monitor it weekly.  

Dogwood Drive Bluebird Trail, Oak Ridge, LA - Tom Allen monitors this 10-box trail started in 2007.  The trail was heavily infested with House Sparrows, but with the help of several ground and in-box traps and "sparrow spookers",  he has been successful.

Hodges Gardens Bluebird Trail, Many, LA - Margaret Kemp, Carolyn Martin and Mary Jo Wright monitor this 23-box trail on the grounds of beautiful Hodges Gardens.  This trail was established by bluebird pioneer, Dr. Shirl Brunell and LBBS is proud to have refurbished it and keep it active as appreciation for her efforts for the bluebird.

Le Oxbow Bayou Bluebird Trail - Waverly, LA - Don French monitors and maintains this 5-box trail.

New Roads Bluebird Trail - New Roads , LA - The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program partnered with LBBS to get this new trail established. Miles Brashier and Mark Carriere with the LSU Ag Center will monitor and maintain the trail. They involve 4-H Club Boys and Girls, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Oaklawn Manor Bluebird Trail, Franklin, LA - Governor Mike Foster monitors this trail of 25 nestboxes on his estate.  LBBS provided the nestboxes and helped establish the trail in February 2009.  

Olivetan Bluebird Trail, Opelousas, LA - Brother Mark Bordelon of Mother of the Redeemer Monastery established and monitors this 10-box trail established in 2010.  

Paula and Richard Gates Bluebird Trail, West Monroe, LA – Paula Gates monitors this 7-box trail on their property.  

Leo Terzia Memorial Bluebird Trail, Monroe, LA -- Jack and Debbie Hoover and John and Katie Tidwell of Monroe monitor this 22-box trail established in 2004 with the help of Leo Terzia (who passed away in March 2005) and located on the grounds of the LA. Dept. of Agriculture & Forestry, Highway 80 East, Monroe, LA.

Cypress Bend Bluebird Trail, Many, Louisiana. This 15 box trail will be monitored and maintained by LBBS volunteers Carolyn Martin, Margaret and Hill Kemp, Sylvia Kidder, and Cheryl and Donald Russell.

Bluebird Trail at South Park, Denham Springs. Brandon Frazier, LBBS member, established this trail of 5 boxes which he plans to add more. He will monitor and maintain the trail and plans to teach others to learn to monitor.

Lamar Dixon Expo Center Bluebird Trail, Gonzales, LA - Lynda Williams, Terry Tripp, and members of the Ascension Parish Master Gardeners have established a trail of 5 boxes with plans to add additional boxes. They will monitor and maintain the trail and have plans to provide educational opportunities for children and adults.”
